The story of the trees
I complete 100 posts for this year :D :D and have always wanted to post some parable sort of a story. So here goes :)
Makkass..this is not my story. nejamavay ithu oru parable thaan. I just did the translation :)
Once there were 3 friendly trees in a dense forest. They were sharing their dreams amongst themselves as to what is their life time ambition.
The first tree said, "I want to be a treasure chest. I want to safeguard Gold, diamond and all the treasures of the world".
Second one said, " I want to be the ship of the king of kings, the all conquering emperor".
Last one had different idea. "I want to grow so tall, closer to heaven, that the Lord Himself should rest on me"
Soon, some lumberjacks came that side. They saw the first one and felt that it was too strong and thick and decided to make a treasure chest out of it. They saw the second one and felt since it had grown straight and tall, it would deem fit to build a ship out of it and decided to give it to the Navy. Both the trees felt so happy that their dreams were about to be realised. The moment the lumberjacks began cutting the third tree, it realised its dream was doomed.
After few days, the lumberjack who cut the first tree, decided against the treasure chest and made a wooden box to store cowdung and cattle fodder. The second one, instead of being made into a warship, became a small boat. The third tree was simply lying in a store room not being used at all. All the trees were heart broken.
One fine day, one pergnant woman, who was going to her village, unable to bear the pain, came to the cowshed on her way home, along with her husband. She gave birth to one cute looking kid. Unable to find a suitable place to keep the child, the kept it on the wooden box which was lying there. The box which dreamt of holding the treasures of the world, felt happy that, more than the treasures it was now providing haven to something more precious than all the treasures put together.
The tree which became boat, was once sailing on the high seas with lot of people on board. Suddenly there was a storm which threatened to capsize the boat. All the people aboard were terrified and fell at the feet of on Saintly figure who just stoof and waved his had towards the sea. The sea became quiet. The tree, then realised its hosting the King of Kings and felt that its ambition has been realised atlast.
One fine day, the third tree, which was all along, lying idle on the store room, was taken out. It saw one divine looking person, with peaceful eyes getting beaten on the streets. The people who were torturing him, made him carry that tree and they went up a hill. There they nailed that man to the tree itself. Still that man, prayed for their forgiveness and never uttered a word against them. The third tree realised, it was none other than Jesus Christ himself and felt so happy that its dream was also fullfilled.
So, all the trees realised their dreams..not in the way they wanted it ..but in the way God had destined for them. Guess it applies to us too. God doesnot fullfill all our wants..but definitely the good intentions behind them.

Reminds me of the saying .. Lets nt miss out on the gifts of the Lord just bcoz they r not packaged the way we want them to be :)
I strongly recommend u send it to the moral story books for kids .. I am serious .. Champak, Chandamama etc.. Kids would love to read stories and what better if they get valuable lessons thru them?
But, the message is so awesome. Each one of us is unique in God's plans, illa? We have been sent down with a purpose, no soul will go away without fulfilling the desired task!! Thanks for sharing this!!

sema kathai n sema moral.. --God doesnot fullfill all our wants..but definitely the good intentions behind them. [yerkanave padichirukkein, aana nanna irundudu thirumba padikka!!:)]
Eventhough its a known story, its always good to remember it again and again. And this story reminds me of a quote which goes like.. "Dont ask got what you desire, but ask got what you deserve. You may not know that you deserve more than your desire" :)
//definitely the good intentions behind them.//
