When Faith faces superstition...

Religion, till a while back, was used to be addressed as faith or belief. The word has been dirtied by all and sundry and with the advent of science which has been steadily gobbling up the space between the known and the unknown, there has been relentless attack on what one perceives and what is actually the case. Many of the popular beliefs have been relegated to just that - popular belief and nothing more. Though scientists claim to have bridged the gap considerably they've only opened up the pandora box of more questions and its widened to the extent that even their own theroies and proofs are ending up as spoofs with each passing day. I've nothing against science but what is it but a mere documentation of an highly active mind. With evolution and more awareness and opportuninties the challenge to existing theories and practices have grown manifold and science is fighting with itself to defend its own space. Its become a creature which survives by feeding on itself. Whether

A time to wait...

P.S: Ok..before u proceed further...this composition was a forward i got a few days back. I've modified it a lot with my own mokka views thrown all around. Check it out. P.S.S: Ethukum oru pillow pakkathula vacihkunga :) Its 8:15 a.m. and I stand here in the bus stop waiting for the office bus to arrive. I stand here in the same manner as I did a few years back waiting for bus to my college..before that to my school.. Little did I know then that things would change so much in so few a year.. the sky under which I am standing seems to be looking at me and smiling .. It is perhaps the only thing that has acted as a witness .. watching the transformation. I've no complaints for the change though. It is destiny, or may be you could call it life. Yes. Life. Weekend Movie Watch--WMW

Yesterday saw Vantage point. Chanceeeela...awesome movie. Ten minutes into the movie, you will know this is different. Probably we've a oscar winner, for interesting screenplay, in our midst. Oru plot. 7 views. Namma ManiRatnam Kamalhasan use panna technique thaan. For those who remember this technique was actually a lift from one age old Sivaji movie (Andha Naal-Now that what i call a classic). But unlike the Mani n Kamal movies where they had izhuthufied it into different plots, this one has just one plot. Oru assasination attempt plus bomb blast. The same scene comes for 6 or 7 times inthe movie. I think the director would've used some dozen teams each with a dozen cameras of their own and edited them wonderfully into one tight piece. Dennis Quaid(?) reminds a lot of Harrison Ford in many scenes minus the smirky grin. Kathai ennamo oneline thaan. Actual scenesnu paatha montha oru 7 8 scene thaan. But the way in which ithas been shot and told is amazing. Tamizhla dub panna A

Gils @ Catch 22

Situation one: A place where everyone knows you...your promotions are pending to be released anytime..where you are anoinented SME...where you know what issues are going to creep up even before they actually occur...where everyone from security to head of dept knows you by your name...where you have rooted 5 years of your time. Situation two: A place so far off from civilisation that travelling to and fro makes timetravel look like school picnic...where the workpressure just tips below boiling point...where the word HIKE is taboo...where you dont know anyone and viceversa and to top it all you dont know the subject where you are going to dwell-in. Which one would you choose to be? What do you call a person who chooses situation 2 over one...For time being we can call that person as Gils. Yes. After much delibration i decided to move to a new domain in my current company itself. At a practical note it sounds the easiest of decisions, as career wise it offers a nice jumpstart

Aasai Aasaiyaai irukirathay...

Last weekend was a special delight for my family members. My elder cousin sis got married. It was a bit delayed one but what an occassion it turned out to be!! All our relations, many of whom werent in touch for decades turned out and we all had a blast of time. Those who had long standing family fights (like our good old KS Ravikumar movies) forgot their egoes for three days and WOW..it was Ammmmmmmaaaaaazzzzzinnnnnnnng. I met some of my cousins for the first time since they were born!! All of a sudden i was periappa/Chithappa/mama/machinan/Anna put together!!! Feels odd when i type this but when all those kids swarmed around me and were pestering for attention and ofcourse, an extra scoop of icecream :), WOW. Its a feeling very hard to put in words. My elder cousins son, in 2 days he became so dear that he simply refused to eat from anyone but me and his dad :) I had a tough time taking leave from them. How i wish the weekend went on and on. It was such a delight to see so many peopl

Turn Turn Turn- The Byrds

Most of you must've already listened to this song from the lovely movie Forrest Gump. Offlate its been the only song ringing continuously on my ipod/fone and all my playlists. It has a sweet melancholic meldoy with a soul of its own. Making you feel remorsefully happy..its a weird feeling. chk this song out if you'vent already. And as for the movie..well..if u'vent seen it, u sure are missing something. It made me into a die hard fan of Tom hanks. P.S: I think there is one more gud song from that movie. Sweet Home Alabama. If anyone has it kindly share maadi :) P.S.S: for those who want to see the video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcgP8E2hELg To everything - turn, turn, turn There is a season - turn, turn, turn And a time for every purpose under heaven A time to be born, a time to die A time to plant, a time to reap A time to kill, a time to heal A time to laugh, a time to weep To everything - turn, turn, turn There is a season - turn, turn, turn And a time for every p

Katrathum Petrathum..Izhanthathum

English language boasts many an interesting writer and a huge fan base. The main complaint which people put forth towards tamil and other regional languages is that, either the works are too hard hitting and sombre or too juvenille..even contemporary themes are dabbed with this paint and are often ignored as technically inaccurate proses. One man who challenged this version and ensured his works broke the jinx was (how i wish i can place "is" here:( ) "Sujatha" Rangarajan. I dunno if anyone else have placed scifi in tamil at such a high pedastal as this man. So for me he remains the first author in tamil to bring out such youthful romantic scifi thrillers. Well versed in chaste and local dialects..he has changed the face of modern tamil writing. Its a great great loss to the tamil book lovers. I simply couldnt digest the fact that people like him could die!! it simply doesnt tally. At times i feel these are the sort of people who should live forever and enthrall gen
