Of good beginning and sothappal endings

There is a favorite quote of mine - venda veruppa pullaya pethu gaanda mirugam nu per vachaanam. Maareesan movie does quite fall into that description, but looking at the way it ended, made me wonder, indha padathuku kaanda mirugamnay per vachurkalam. But why Maareesan??!!!

Malayalam movie world has made Indian cinema take note of its success and its mastery in the thriller genre. The movie begins in similar note to any Malayalam crime story with even the lead actor being borrowed from there - Fahadh Faasil. Vadivelu in a "Maamannan" lite avatar, hardly gets to crack an emotion on face except for sticking very close to the character of being an Alzheimer patient. Alzheimer's patient na emote panna koodathu purinjintaangalo enamo!! Or probably it is called under play?? ennamo onnu. He comes with same pose mood and performance throughout the first half and the story moves from one town to another, taking as much time to travel in real time in reel as well!!! All just for stealing 21 lakhs in bank balance from vadivelu by Fahadh who offers to take him to all those places in his stolen bike!! The interval portion totally turns the story into a whole new genre and a vigilante avatar of vadivelu comes to fore. The reason for all those killings by an old man, who is well into attaining senior citizenship status and considering the strength of the people killed by him, it makes no logical sense. And cleverly the director doesn't dwell deep into those killings and poses them as a passing reference. The second half struggles because you can only sweep away so much into a paper thin carpe of a story and somewhere the conflict has to be "shown". The pedo villain reveal towards the end was a nice twist and the moment it is revealed you can guess how he would be killed. The best part about the movie being, it keeps you hooked on to almost 3/4th of the running time and that makes up for the rushed climax and ending. The entire journey and the camaraderie between Fahad and vadivelu who make up for almost every scene in the movie, makes it worth a watch.

The Great gamblers

Algorithm of an arranged marriage: 1) Check the foto if like it goto step 2 2) Check the horoscope if it matches goto step 3 3) Visit the gals/guys house for free snack session and have an officially sponsored violation of privacy with the sort of questions that would've made you beet red in anger had the situation been anything otherwise. 4) If step 3 finishes satisfactorily..get the 2 bakras married!!! There are many people around who dont believe in placing bets or who consider gambling as an evil. But still they have no qualms in going in for an arranged marriage. It still beats me..how can one judge a person with just a few minute talk and above all get CONVINCED that he/she is going to be his life partner??!!! Even to select a team mate we have 4 rounds of interview!!! Before you guys jump on me..let me hide behind the disclaimer. I've absolutely no issues with this concept which has worked well for my parents..their parents..relatives...and majority of people i knew and ...

Seasons under sun...

Got this as a forward. Made interesting reading and made lot of sense too :) check it out. Just two years after our marriage, hubby brought up the idea of asking mother to move from the rural hometown and spend her remaining years with us. Hubby's father passed away while he was still very young. Mother endured much hardship and struggled all on her own to provide for him, see him through to a university degree. You could say that she suffered a great deal and did everything you could expect of a woman to bring hubby to where he is today. I immediately agreed and started packing the spare room, which has a balcony facing the South to let her enjoy the sunshine and plant greenery. Hubby stood in the bright room, and suddenly just picked me up and started spinning round and round. As I begged him to put me down, he said: "Lets go fetch mother." Hubby is tall and big sized and I love to rest on his chest and enjoy the feeling that he could pick me up at any moment put the...
