Of heroism over times

Recently i saw a movie called "Lucky Bhaskar". It had good reviews and was a big hit at the BO. The story is loosely based on Harshad Mehta and his scam, with the hero playing the role of a minor piece in the big bull's scheme of things. Since he is the hero, of course the entire premise is based on his role primarily with slight touching points on the original scam. The Hero makes crores of money in a short span of time, piggy backing on the bigger scam, sponsors smugglers by rotating bank money, fake publishes lottery results to convert his black money into white, liberally uses Hawala for authenticating his transactions and one fine day decides to turn a new leaf, after seeing one of his co-conspirators die due to heart attack, after realizing that he is almost caught in his act and could get arrested any time. How the hero manages to hoodwink the law agencies, his equally if not more corrupt superior officers and ends up with the bulk of his money invested in US forms the end of the story. Since he is the hero, the bribes he pays for covering up his acts, his lavish donations and freebies for his neighbors, how he literally breaks the bank to satisfy his ego by buying an entire rack of jewels for his sister, how he pays off an entire street to park his car, everything he does are shown with heroic and uplifting music that puts a positive spin on it. Replace Dulqur salman with a rough looking villain and replace the BGM with something menacing, you've got your typical villain. But since the role is played by a good looking guy who also happens to be the "hero" anything he does can be excused as heroic!! If a middle class man, to escape from his sufferings and poverty, resorts to cheating and corruption its heroic and if he happens to be good looking you've to not just root for him but also voice out against law agencies who chase him to his downfall. When the same is done by a rich guy, it would be down right wrong and every leftist centrist socialist rightist guy will be up in arms!! Enna koduma saravana idhu!! No one can insult a middle class society beyond this!! Gone are the days when good won over evil on silver screen. Nowadays it is outright evil which dominates and anyone who is even remotely good is shown as a loser, who has to die within the first few minutes of the movie, so that his bad relative (hero) can do the same evil things in even more gorified manner than villain and can avenge his death! There is a dialogue that i happened to come across in a trailer of an upcoming movie - Previously people used to warn against bad guys for they cause trouble not only for themselves but also for those associated with them. Nowadays they say the same for good people!!!  Ennamo pongapa. P.S: moviesa moviea paakanum overa aarayapdaathu nu solra group apdiye odi poidunga.

"Enna koduma saravana idhu", indeed. What an awful story.Artistic licence does not extend to producing such crap. By the way, interesting that anybopdy knows or remebers Harshad Mehta. That was before you were born Gilsu :):)

Completely agree with "overa aarayapdaathu nu solra group apdiye odi poidunga." How would we otherwise get posts like this ! And I get to wonder who Dulqur salman and BGM are :):)

Lovely to see a bonus post in 2024. I thought the blog was closed for holidays after the mandatory year end post. Waiting for a series of movie posts after the binge watching Gilsu must have surely done over the New Year holidays.
