3 body problem - drama series

This is probably the earliest i am posting about a series, having just watched 3 episodes. Mighty impressed with the content and presentation of "3 body problem" drama series on Netflix. The production values rivals that of Marvel and other high budget production houses. With each episode running for nearly an hour and with majority of the running space requiring Special effects, the cost of making a single episode must be as high as a full time movie!!

The interesting part about this series being, the take on aliens and future of human civilization. A bit like Star Trek, but on a more relatable level, the series talks about the SETI program and its impact on human civilization, base assumption being, upon receiving a response from the other side. The series is almost as Chinese as it is in English, for i understand, the base premise has been taken from a book written in Chinese. The concept as it is, is quite novel and the timing of the response when received from the other side, makes it as controversial as well. Wonder if it would be aired fully in China!!

At times, it feels like yet another doomsday cultist series, but upon reading about the other 2 books that form this series, was quite impressed with the imagination and creative thought process of the author. The way the recruitment process happens and the concept of 3 body problem being explained, alongside quantum entanglement were all so superfluous yet to simple. Looking forward to rest of the series and more from the other books as well. A definite winner for Netflix!

Wow. This is about as full throated a recommendation as could come from Gilsu.

What is the name of the book ? And since I have a residual few days left from the one month Netflix sub I had to do to see Merry Christmas, I might give at least one episode a try.

Gilsu - you should start an "entertainment consultancy". It will be a hugely successful business.

Rudhra Veenai

Took binge watching to a whole new level and completed Rudhra Veenai series in a week's time :) The best part of the lot being, i didnt see the last episode to know the ending, despite the craving urge right from midway onto the series. Yay to that :)  The story by Indira Soundrarajan, made into drama series by Radaan have been on my radar for few years now and thanks to my blog mate and good friend Brags, managed to get hold of the series. For long my complaint against tamil series is that they are in no league to match the thrill element of the english drama series. There are some handful of good comedy series like Flight 171, Ramany vs Ramany but none to match a good suspense thriller till i stumbled on the Marmadesam series. Read in some survey that they've been voted as the best ever tamil series of the 90's. Not sure on the authenticity, but they would definitely worth any such accolades. Marmadesam series where way too ahead of their time for any drama series is my...
