Romba naala paakanumnu was waiting - apdi enna thaan iruku intha padathulanu...Well. After seeing the movie..cant help wondering what was in it to deserve 8 oscars!! Its pakka bollywood masala movie with some realistic screenplay. Enna..hindi padamna heroine virgina irunthirupa..annan thambi rendu perum route vitu oru triangular love story with bad annan dying in end - apdi kathai mari irukum. Illa madur bandarkar mathiri directorna..ithey kathai with full length songs irunthirukum making the movie stretching by an hour.
After seeing the movie..oscar award committeekarangala nenacha siripa varuthu. Intha padathuku entha karanathukaga award kuduthangannay puriala. The music was ok. Not Rahman's best. "Chaiaya chaiaya" was 1000 times better than this. And the movie was very confusing. Though most of the characters speak english, it sounds so out of sorts that it looks almost fake. Especially the hero talking in english at the police station. The swear words are in hindi and dialgoues in english makes it very odd to follow. Almost like my blog in tanglish :D
There is not a single performance that catches the eye in the movie. Everything is so normal and is almost like a documentary. The quizzing scenes could've been made more thrilling. No wonder mumbaikars are angry about the movie. The city has been shown in the worst possible light, with only the uglier portions of the metro hogging the limelight. Surprsingly Bollywood, the heart of the city, finds just a passing mention in Amitabh bachan's virtual appearence. Though made by a foreigner, this movie is a typical hindi masala movie and frankly doesnt deserve the oscars it won. Still, glad for Rahman for finally opening the account. Jai Ho and deserve Ho, from now on.
