The genz frenzy

If at all there ever was a generation that is more known for being a generation of its own, that would be this zee group i guess!! At times it feels as if they are not our own kith and kin, but as if they landed from an alien planet and needs to be revered!!! Across spectrum of all human kind all over the globe, if there is one group who seems to be on the spotlight for a variety of reasons, its the zee kind! People bend over backwards to accomodate their lingo, their culture, their attitude, their sensibilities and when i say it ranges across all walks of life, it literally is the case. When dyed in lie politicos start noticing and begins to follow them, it can seem like any ambivalent attitude of an opportunist lot. When movies begin to pander to them, it again can be attributed to the gallery playing to the audience. But in the age of mob stream media and goat herd culture, the power of repetition rules roost and when one keep hearing the term gen z, it feels as if we are dealing with, forced to deal with an alien group, previously unknown to human kind and not someone whom we see day in and day out. 

Couple of years (or was it decades?!!) back, when SMS used to be the "in" thing, the lingo of using short forms, shortening the words into mono syllables, using pictures for representing words, were creeping into our regular lexicon. I remember being admonished for using "u" instead of "you" in one of the emails and rightly so, for there is a concept called decorum and decency which is the actual alienated concept in present day world. Being respectful is weirdly seen and very quickly labelled as boomer. The term rebel is the most abused one ever since movie guys romanticised mocking, disrespecting teachers and professors as cool and it has now extended into rave parties and strager meets. Not a single movie is made without having the lead pair smoking or drinking and the bigger the budget means definitely they have to roll a joint!! When did smoking pot and having bottles of liquor at home became a societal norm i fail to understand!! Not that every social issue needs to be pinned on the genz tail, but since everyone is head over heels in accomodating all their shenaningans why not tag a few in their account is the general idea!!

Now that the rant is covered, just wanted to try out a post venting out on the "in" group of today :) Generation gap is like tax and death, it has always been there. But this group seems to be hell bent on making the gap an ever extending void, alienating themselves from everyone else. Wonder where it will lead the gen alpha group too!!!
