Jest junior things

It has been a while since we disconnected cable tv at home relying wholely and solely on internet for tv subscription and viewing. And we didnt even realize that we have moved away from regular TV channels like Sun or Vijay till the time this incident happened, for mom, who regularly watches only Vijay, now has switched over to Hotstar app and doesn't even switch on TV!! It's all available within her palm at the touch of a screen. I am the only person who watches TV that too not on a regular basis, but to watch any sports or news. One day while browsing over the channel list i saw Anniyan movie playing on K TV and looking at references to Garuda Puranam, Junior was curious about the movie and said let that channel play. When the owner of the remote himself has decided, that wish obviously becomes the command right! After a while he came to me complaining that the TV was broke and something is wrong. I could hear that something was playing and was wondering whether the picture was having some disturbance and went to check. It was working fine and about audio/video were playing without any issue. I asked him "Ennachu buffer aagutha..suthikitay irukka?" He said "ila..edho repair aagiruku"

"enna repair nalla claritya thana iruku"

"last 15 minutesa movieye varala"

"???apdina?"

"intha ad ithoda 4 times play aadichu..movieye varala..something is stuck"

Then only it struck me that he is watching a TV channel after so long and possibly for the first time!!! K TV SUN TV are well known for showing movies in bits amidst their advertisement barrage and junior was confused why it was playing so many ads and that too without skip ad!! When "Indian" movie was first time telecasted in Raj tv, they played the 3 hour movie across 7 hours!!! ivanlaam appo irunthiruntha kalla vittu tv ya odachirupan nenakren!!!

Ah well, it is time I walked off into the sunset.

I recall the time when the Asian Games came to Delhi in 1982 and the government decided to bring colour TV for the first time and commenced broadcasting to antennas that needed to be fixed in each terrace to catch the signal. There was vociferous objection to bringing colour TV on the grounds that entertainment was not considered necessary for a "poor country". Doordarshan would only broadcast in the evenings and it was decreed by the babus that only vayalum vazhvum and "educational programmes" could be broadcast on prime time. Only non popular movies could be telecast once a week as "it was not fair to air popular movies", as "non popular movies also deserved a chance ".

Gilsu was of course not born at that time :)

Before the movie review..makkalay..pona posta pathutu mothama naan blog worldlenthu apeet aagarennu santhosha patta makkaluku..ungala avlo easya nimmathia iruka udra idea lethandi :) Uncanny sonna mathiri thirutu proxy ushaar panra velaila theevirama eranga vendi thaan :D Now for the review. This is not a once-in-a-life-time-never-before-told story sort of a movie. Inum solanumna..its so simple that, i can bet you there would be atleast one friend in your gang whose life story would match frame by frame with this one. The story is so simple..dialogues so natural..no major twists (Except for the ending..grrrrrrr). Apramum intha padathula pudikara mathiri enna iruku?? Well..to me..i felt the natural nature of the movie is its strength. No hype..over the top emotions..unwanted sentiments..everything is measured. Gautam menon even pokes fun at himself at some scenes. Its a simple tamil Hindu tenant boy, who is aspiring movie director, falling in love with Mallu christian landlord's gir...

The Great gamblers

Algorithm of an arranged marriage: 1) Check the foto if like it goto step 2 2) Check the horoscope if it matches goto step 3 3) Visit the gals/guys house for free snack session and have an officially sponsored violation of privacy with the sort of questions that would've made you beet red in anger had the situation been anything otherwise. 4) If step 3 finishes satisfactorily..get the 2 bakras married!!! There are many people around who dont believe in placing bets or who consider gambling as an evil. But still they have no qualms in going in for an arranged marriage. It still beats me..how can one judge a person with just a few minute talk and above all get CONVINCED that he/she is going to be his life partner??!!! Even to select a team mate we have 4 rounds of interview!!! Before you guys jump on me..let me hide behind the disclaimer. I've absolutely no issues with this concept which has worked well for my parents..their parents..relatives...and majority of people i knew and ...
