Maargan - movie review
Till the time i was sitting to type this post i was wondering why they named the movie "Morgan" when there was no such character!!! 2 mani neram padam paathum padathoda title ku artham puriyama google panni paatha oray aal naana thaan iruppen!! Apparantly it means "one who follows margam (path)". For a while was wondering had this been based on Kumari muthi it could've been titled "Maaru kann" (squint eye)..hehe!!
Title apart, the movie was quite decent and interesting. The premise being a dead body is found blackened like coal and immediately the chennai police reaches out to the hero in mumbai for he is also similarly afflicted, except that he somehow survived the blackening with half of his face and body alone tarred!! The sad part being, his only daughter too suffered a similar fate as the dead girl in Chennai and what other pretext you need to bring him into the picture. He follows the routine investigation procedures and within no time lands up with the suspect who is present at the scene of crime and behaves suspiciously, having previous history as well!! The moment the suspect is captured, from there the whole story is owned by the debutant boy who holds the whole setup together. Like "Minority report" here the boy goes deep inside water and holds his breath to traverse to any where, especially the scenes of crime that he may or maynot have seen physically, but is able to travel through any mode or medium mentally, with his physical body being present deep inside water. Type panrathukkay ivlo kashtama irukkay, itha epdi kadhaiya solli naalu pera confuse..che..convince panni, produce panna vacharukanga therila. Director deserves a special mention for that. Even though it may sound vague or nonsensical on paper, the execution is quite neat and performances are decent as well. The script is quite taut and tight till the reason behind those killings are revealed which literally fade in comparison to all those darkening that kills people!! Edhuku tan panni kill panuvanen...edhuku ivlo kashtapattu adhuvum!! But all these logical questions wouldn't arise till the end credits role, which means, they have successfully kept you engaged for those 100 plus minutes and there likes the victory of the story teller.
It is quite a decent movie, if you ignore logical loop holes and just enjoy the thrill ride.
