Matters of heart are beyond the reach of many...else why a shd a mere blood purifying organ assume such a gigantic propotion in everyones life...no one says i lost my mind to him/her...well..that, if anyone does they wud be looked upon differently, is a different matter altogether....no one celebrates valentines day with eye symbol..which introduces people...or ear..with which they hear each other...or mouth..for all practical purposes ;)...but heart...wats tht with this organ in particular which catches everyones fancy......no one says "i thank u from the top of my mind"....but from the bottom of my heart.....thinking process is something aligned with the mind...where does heart comes in picture?

I would say it's because no matter what the situation is, it's ur heart that kind of tells you the impact of it?...like by beating so fast that u think u almost had a heart failure :D
You can't feel your brain being over worked...but ur heart ; yeah...you see a good looking person smiling at ya, you skip a beat...your boss says that he needs to speak to you about ur appraisal, ur heart almost stops beating...that's why may be?
