Two sides of same coin

Recently saw 2 interviews on Chai with Chitra channel. One was the most controversial of all the conversations on the channel by 7th channel Narayanan and other was that of director S.R.Dhasaradhan. The first one was all bitter and negative about most of the famous celebrities of tinsel town. In fact, every single person whose name came up on that chat, were complained about and criticized, even though the same was massaged towards the end as being cordial at present. Maniratnam, Shankar, Ajith, Kamal, Gautham Menon, Other movie producers, distributors none were spared. In fact, that interview series gained wide reach and many visits mainly because of the criticism of Ajith, whose fans bayed for the blood of the producer. He was even interviewed by other magazines for his statements on Ajith. Probably that was his intent as well for as claimed by himself, 9 out of his ten films were duds and even those that ran never got him any money. He sounded like a sore loser and like a gambler who is hell bent on beating the house to claim the evading jackpot. Even though every alternate sentence of his interview had a self-attestation that he was a honest person and that is the reason why he has so many people in cine industry who respect him, he sounded anything but that. In fact over the 7 part marathon interview, the host himself asked whether he had anything positive to say about those whom he worked with. The other interview was 360 degree opposite of this one, oozing with positivity, gratitude and humility. Even though he was nearly 90 years old and having over 7 decades of movie and drama experience, he was only having good things to say about everyone whom he worked with. Even though he narrated incidents about the person whom he addressed as his guru, who used to beat him in front of everyone when he did mistakes during shoot times, he was so respectful and mentioned his guru in such high esteem, claiming that those punishments made him the person he became later in his life. Having worked with 4 different cm’s across decades and with countless famous and eminent personalities who had crossed his life, including Kamal, rajini and many superstars across generations, he was very respectful in addressing them and was waxing eloquent about the talents of others. He sounded content and peaceful and it was such a joy to watch that series of chats. 

Quite possibly, both were telling honest to truth facts about the real life incidents from their experience. And the former could’ve been very well justified in his bitterness, having been taken for a ride by everyone. But when it is telecasted on a public forum with several thousand viewers, how much people appreciate the negativity and realize that it may also be the stark fact of life. Guess we are all used to sugar coated and syrupy positivity as acceptable and anyone saying to the contrary as negative. But both versions could very well be true and exist in real world and even though “sabai naagareegam” demands people to under play the bad things about others, some one sure has to wash the dirty linen. Whether it may clean the cloth or not, is up for any one to figure.
