Suits - drama series

Have started watching Suits and before I could realize it had became the last activity for the night before I sleep. Already into the 5th season and loving every single episode of it. Inarguably, the best part of subscribing to Amazon prime. When I started watching the series, was wondering how the hell they recreate such a make believe world of Lawyers. Every one strutted around in “suits” as per the titles, which is local lingo for lawyers I guess. And ladies had wraparound formals in similar manner. But the walk and body posturing where all the same, as if some starched peacock is doing military rounds. Even before I could realize, I’ve began to despise the arrogance of Harvey Specter who is the main hero and the vulnerable yet brilliant Mike Ross, the primary reason why the series went into 5th season (Enda dei..ivan fraud nu ella charactersum therinjaparumum 5 season epdida oatineenga!!). One of the leading lady, Rachel Zane (Megan Markle) has already become the queen of the world. Well, literally the 6th in line to the Queen’s throne, having married Prince Harry. There is another guy who invariably ends up creating trouble due to his emotional state, Louis Litt – a very natural and awesome portrayal by that guy who plays this character, ever menacing villain who is always in the look-out for a  takeover and above all Jessica Pearson, the lady who holds fort of the firm. Never have such a majestic lady character have been witnessed by me in a drama series, that doesn’t involve royalty. She is so convincing as the managing partner of the firm, be it her dialogue delivery, her expressions or body language, you can mute the show and still figure out who is the leader of the pack. The cases which this group handles and how they thwart attacks on their firms by rivals, how they group as family and divide as individuals in their relationships all mark for an engrossing series.
To me the highlight of the series would be the detailing and depth of each characters involved. Very beautifully written and quite logically carried over. Every single character has been fleshed out with so many details that, I’ve not included their real names in the previous para, for it was their screen names in the series!! I loved the quotes and references from Game of Thrones thrown in every now and then. The “name play” on mike ROSS and Rachel Zane- throwback to Ross and Rachel from Friends and how this couple also go through an on-off series of relation. The underlying sense of loyalty, trust and respect they have for each other and their family, makes me wonder the kind of stuff that is shown on our television. Take any drama series, there is always a relative who is trying to go to any extreme to kill, cheat or insult the protagonist, who is either submissive or waiting to take revenge. The basic plot of the series itself revolves around negativity and more the tears, more the TRP!! Wish they do series like these that are industry specific in local languages. Makes one wonder that the day is not far when westerners are going to adopt joint family while we are going to go from Nuclear to sub atomic!!
