Dea(r)th of career

Intha mathiri oru mokka postuku entha mathiri sensationala title vaikarathunu yosichathin vilaivu is what you are seeing at the top.

Have been long planning to write on this topic and our lunch time conversation yesterday, reignited it or rather reminded, epdi venumnaalum vachukalam.

Lunchmate: "gils..you come from other end of the world right..your bus must surely be stopping at Karappakam?"

Me:"car pakkam bike pakkam ellathu pakkamum nikkum..what do you want?"

LM: "my cousin has joined a kambeni en route.since she would also be commuting in the same route as you, wanted to check if the bus will stop near her office"

Me: "kandipaaga nikkum..its not run by MTC rather TTDC. Chennai chutrula paaka aasapatta they can surely board this one. what is her tech? reminds of one Vikatan joke. What is the common question asked between two programmers and two pichakarans - Which platform...hehe"

LM: "romba pazhasu..she started as java developer and moved onto dot net and is in mainframes now"

Me: "huh??how many years exp she has?"

LM: "good question..three years"

Me: "three years and three major changes?? primary skill set ennanu poduvanga?"

LM: "you are in which era dude..ipolaam oray skill set thaan and its called adaptability..primary kintergartenlam kedayathu. benchla irukarathu all time high risku.. you can learn something and be billable is the tharaga manthiram."

Me: "athukunnu..oru logicay illama jumpa? one day java..next day mainframe..adutha naal data warehousingna..what will happen to their career?"

LM: "when it comes to having a job and choosing  career..latter depends on former. hence proved"

Me: "more like joker of all trades and bachelor of none?"

LM: "who cares..project demands resources. requirements decides career. if you are lucky to get into a long term project..then yeah, your concept of career will work. Ippolam no projects run for more than few months. apdi irukarachay how can you be stubborn and stick to a single tech. people need to be flexible and adaptive to changes of time..see end of the day the bottomline is we are all in our job to earn and so is the company that gives us the job. whether I get paid for being an ERP guy or web services guy..end of the month payslipla enna varuthu matters. Ashtey"

As much as I wanted to argue against it, the logic was irrefutable.

A slight problem with your lunchmate's argument.

Will he fly on a plane where the pilot is one month flying A380 and next month flying Bombardiers ??

Skills matter. Deep skills matter. And being the expert matters.

A twist to your question..suppose you are Vijay mallaya :D:D and is dire need of a pilot..will you wait till the bombardier acquire commercial pilot license?

the answer to the quandary lies in the owners name and no wonder about the fate of the airlines :)

2 phone calls and an amazing week...

Its amazing how much a voice can convey..apart from whats being said. In past 2 weeks i had 2 such conversations over phone which made me feel like...WOW!! First one was more emotional and sentimental at the same time very positive and heartwarming. The distance of several thousand kilometers was nonexistent for the entire duration of the call and even after that call it still feels the same. I am happy for the day i got introduced to "People Network" through which we made our acquaintance and me the forever greedy would pray for more such days. What began as a call to console soon turned out to be the best motivational talk i ever had. That person recounted incidents from their personal life and how they overcame it to be what they are now. It was touching and a rare gesture that i felt so happy that they were kind enough to share it with me. It immediately shook me out of my gloom and i was soon back to normal. I am indebted to that person for that call and for the support ...

From Confedration towards Confused Nation

Andru: "avvvvvvvvvvvvv.....enaku antha bommai venum..." "chellam...adam pudikathada..saapdu" "saapda maaten po..enaku antha bomma vaangithanthaa thaan sapduven" "chamthula..saapduma...amma paavamla.." "avvvvvvvvvvvvv.....maaaten maaten" "ipo sapdla..udha vizhum" "maaten...maaten..maaten" The kid ultimately prevails and the doll is bought. Indru: "Fast unto death"..."wont even drink a drop of water...till telengaana is achieved"..."blood will flow.." blah blah blah... And this time the government yields to the demand. Thottil pazhakkam sudukaadu mattumnu summava solranga. Ithuku thaan chinna vayasulaye nalla naalu kaatu kaati iruntha intha mathiri caselaam adangirukum.

Yours Lovingly.. :( final part

The 3 days went in a blur..he cudnt even recollect what he did or dint and was eagerly awaiting for Arunas call..It never came. He got tensed and tried reaching her number in vain..The weekend went in trying her number..When he went to office first thing he stopped short of sending her a stinker..he jus wrote Hi and sent a mail..no response came..finally he dared to call up her office and check..he called jaya.. "Hi jaya.." "heyyy..Ram..watta suprise..u calling me..cudnt believe it..how are u..how are things at ur end.." He controlled himself and patiently answered her.. "tell me hw cme u remembered me.." "can u tell me if Aruna is around" There was a gap before she answered in mock protest.."so..u dint mean to call me..want to know abt Aruna is it..i wnt tell u.." "pls pls..pls jaya..is she arnd? can u ask her to call me..i am unable to reach her..neither is she replyin to my mails.." "am i her PA" he could...
