Random ramblings

We had a LIFCO dictionary (English to Tamil) that had several things other than usual words and meanings. It had a section called proverbs which had English proverbs and their equivalent in Tamil. One proverb that I remember, in particular, related to the context of this post, is “Art is long, life is short”. I never realized the meaning of these proverbs, but it got stuck in my head. In the aftermath of Mathew Perry’s demise, also for a fact that I hadn’t watched any episode of friend in a past few months, randomly selected an episode from one of the earlier seasons. In that episode, The one with Barry and Mindy’s wedding, Chandler happens to meet someone online. That person, whom he believes is a lady while others caution that it could be anyone pretending to be one on the internet, advises him to be his true self. That person suggests Chandler to come out of his humor façade and face the real world in his real self. When he tries to be a regular person, reacting non-sarcastically, it freaks his whole group out who asks him to be back to his usual self! There used to be a joke.. Not sure of it was on FRIENDS or read it elsewhere, that the laughter we hear on series were recorded and are repeated for last 50 years.. Basically, that means, most of those who lent their laughter or heard laughing for jokes in your favorite sitcoms, might have already been dead and you are literally listening to dead people laughing!!! Such a disturbing thought on something so positive.

The universe does acts in mysterious ways, for, of all the episodes that I chose to watch, I end up with this one, that too after voicing similar thoughts on the previous post! It looks strange and eerily weird to watch Chandler on screen when his real time persona has expired. It reminded me of one my uncle who refused to watch any movie in theater after the demise of MGR. He was a big-time fan of the matinee idol and would be present on the first day first show for every movie of MGR. Whenever he says he will never watch another movie of any hero on screen, I used to wonder how crazy it sounds and on the fanaticism behind such decisions. But watching a character, you admired, having actually expired, on screen after their demise, does feel a lot weird, despite all the common sense and stuff contradicting such thoughts.

2 phone calls and an amazing week...

Its amazing how much a voice can convey..apart from whats being said. In past 2 weeks i had 2 such conversations over phone which made me feel like...WOW!! First one was more emotional and sentimental at the same time very positive and heartwarming. The distance of several thousand kilometers was nonexistent for the entire duration of the call and even after that call it still feels the same. I am happy for the day i got introduced to "People Network" through which we made our acquaintance and me the forever greedy would pray for more such days. What began as a call to console soon turned out to be the best motivational talk i ever had. That person recounted incidents from their personal life and how they overcame it to be what they are now. It was touching and a rare gesture that i felt so happy that they were kind enough to share it with me. It immediately shook me out of my gloom and i was soon back to normal. I am indebted to that person for that call and for the support ...

From Confedration towards Confused Nation

Andru: "avvvvvvvvvvvvv.....enaku antha bommai venum..." "chellam...adam pudikathada..saapdu" "saapda maaten po..enaku antha bomma vaangithanthaa thaan sapduven" "chamthula..saapduma...amma paavamla.." "avvvvvvvvvvvvv.....maaaten maaten" "ipo sapdla..udha vizhum" "maaten...maaten..maaten" The kid ultimately prevails and the doll is bought. Indru: "Fast unto death"..."wont even drink a drop of water...till telengaana is achieved"..."blood will flow.." blah blah blah... And this time the government yields to the demand.
