Nootokka jillala andagadu – movie review

Expectations – that is the magic formula for box office I guess. The hype that people create about heroes, heroines, directors, comedians and possibly some other technicians as well, makes the movie and many a times break it as well. But those that are seen without any expectation, often have a higher probability of success. Agreed that it may not pull crowds from day one show one and it may not reap big time money on the first day itself. Such movies often have the cushion of being low budget and hence can sustain for a lengthier period to recover the money invested. The only strength or USP of such movies are their content and presentation. It need not require a multi crore budget or high profile cast but decent presentation and likeable chemistry between the characters.

Edhukuda ivlo peria buildup!! Pathu line aaidchu innum enna review nu sollavay illangaravangaluku…adhaan matteray. It is a simple story and I actually wasn’t much interested in watching it for the reviews posted prior had suggested it as a rehash of some movies. The first thing that struck me was the hero – a very normal, next door or next seat in office face and very natural performance. Losing hair when you are still single and on the right side of 30’s is probably the most fearsome thing for any guy. The story is about the bald hero and how his efforts to cover it up, literally and figuratively, results in situations. It is actually a story that write itself, depends on how you wanted to spin it, whether it is positive or negative. There are no twists or turns and it is as straight forward a story as it goes. The other best thing about the heroine is the movie..err..movie is the heroine. She is so natural and good looking and smiley and …ennamopoda Madhava. She is effortless in her chemistry with the hero. Guess the best example of good acting is the effortlessness of it and the originality of it. I am not sure if she will make it into mainstream blockbuster masala movies, but would be a good fit for similar themed movies. The story does deal with a sensitive topic of early baldness in men. It is a very emotional and extremely personal topic for those who had gone through that phase. I had some school mates of mine who grew thick beard even during 11th standard and the amount of teasing and embarrassment they underwent was unimaginable. Surprisingly both are totally bald now. May be the hormones that over worked on the facial area at a very early age, decided to take early retirement on the upper cranial region. And somehow towards the end only I realized all the while I had been watching a telugu movie. Not that I didn’t notice when I selected the movie, but it never felt like an alien tongue in its treatment or presentation. What would be a figuratively hair raising situation due to the lack of it is given a funny treatment. Definitely an enjoyable watch with decent comic situations built in naturally and for the wonderful chemistry between the lead pair.

So much to comment on !

Firstly, they make a movie about somebody going bald ????? Really ???? I suppose when you make a 10000 movies a month, you rather run out of ideas. Why would I want to go see a movie which deals with the earth shattering topic of baldness ?

Secondly, if a movie has a title I can't even pronounce, I am not going there !

Thirdly, methinks Madam reads this blog and Gilsu is under severe threat that if he goes ga ga over any heroine he would be met with chappals when he comes home. The best he is allowed to do is "ennamopoda Madhava" !! Even names can't be mentioned. Of course, I had to google her and can therefore ask the incisive question - What or who is "Chi La Sow" !

Fourthly, the fact that Gisu realised only at the end that he was watching a Telugu movie is enough evidence that he has mastered the language considering the number of Telugu movies he watches.

Finally, its time offices reopened. Gilsu is having too much fun !

Ever since i saw "Maama Mia" in HBO..this song has been ringing in my head nonstop. Me a big fan of ABBA. That troupe has a cuteness in all their song..a refreshing sense of jolly music and nice n simple lyrics to top it all. I like most of their songs.."volevouzs","waterloo","I do I do","mama mia".."dancing queen" being the most favourite. But lyricswise..this one is my fav.. I feel its very positive in tone.. I have a dream, a song to sing, to help me cope with anything If you see the wonder of the fairy tale You can take the future even if you fail I believe in angels, something good in everything I see I believe in angels, when I know the time is right for me I'll cross the stream, I have a dream I have a dream, a fantasy, to help me through reality And my destination makes it worth the while Pushing through the darkness still another mile I believe in angels, something good in everything I see I believe in angels, whe...
