Oru Indian Pranaya kadha and Om shanthi oshanna – movies reviews

Ithey ratela pona Haridas, Raja Harischandra reviewlaamum varalam. Both the movies mentioned are very famous and super hit Malayalam movies and are at least a decade old. Probably the time when Malayalam movies where heralding youngsters like Dulque, Nivin, Fahadh (that guy is Benjamin button in pause mode I guess. Looks old in every movie) and so many leading ladies like Nazriya et al made the movies all the more colorful and vibrant. Most of my friends have seen almost all the movies of Fahadh and Dulqur that were released during that time and they were always going ga-ga over them. With almost no new tamil movie to watch, have been shifting across kannada, telugu and Malayalam. Pretty soon I would also be like those international movie watcher groups, watching every movie across every language. Innum Korean, Bengali shift aagarathukulla corona kittenthu kaapathu saami.

Indian pranaya kadha was highly rated by my friend and even recently he had posted about some top ten funny movies for lockdown he had mentioned this one. Maybe he was smitten by Amala paul or that kozhuk mozhuk other heroine. Wonder what else caught his fancy in the movie. It felt like couple of episodes from a rushed up mega serial. There is an aspiring politician, who wouldn’t take bribe, but would still use his influence to get things done for his public. He is already in a committed relation with a rich guy and his dad working on a petrol bunk awaits the day his son would become MLA and visit his bunk to fill up petrol for his car. Almost all the characters are memorably entrenched, with the flip side being, by the time the actual story kicks in, or what I perceived as the story, it was almost halfway through. Amala paul looks cute nevertheless and probably the only reason for all those songs across nice locales all over India. The so called commercial aspect of the otherwise straight forward movie. Fahadh as the politician, with his quirky mannerisms is very believable. There is no over the top emotions, even for such a sindhu bhairavi of a premise involving Amala. Had it been a tamil movie, they would’ve cried a towel out. The ending also is very convenient. Him getting a job and his position in party, Amala coming back from Canada to unite with him. Ithula, Amala at least has a  reason to fall in love with him for he helps in finding her parents. But why should he fall in love with her other than money being the aspect and how come it becomes the noble love theme for the movie, I really didn’t understand. The comedy was also not your laugh out loud but more of smiley types.

I almost saw Om Shanthi Oshanna when it got released in Chennai and it got dropped at the last minute. My friends were going nuts over Nazriya and when I finally saw her movie “Raja Rani” I could understand why. Usually pint sized heroines, how much ever they try to glam up, always look cute especially if they’ve a good smile. In this movie with a running time of more than 2 hours, we’ve 3 hours of Nazriya on screen. Nivin looks more like a side role than hero, even though he is the anchor against which Nazriya’s infatuation puppy love blossoms into adult love finally into fulfillment. It is a simple story of Christian school girl falling in love with hindu farmer. With religion never ever getting into the way of the lovers but just situations. Again, no big twist and turn and a very convenient storyline where everything eventually and regularly falls in place. A simple story with good looking cast. Ithukada ivlo alapparai panneengannu thoninalum, watching a movie with just subtitles on and no sound does deprive of the other qualities.

So – two more time pass movies for lockdown from the land of Chettans and chechi’s. More to come.

Om Shanti Oshana was OK (watched last year). Nazriya is cute- And you think Amala Paul is cute? Hmmm!

Try watching Njaan Prakashan. Also, the telugu movie 'evade subramanian' - watch this first, I was so in love with the visuals of this movie.

Since the past couple of years, I have widened my scope of view to Malayalam and Telugu, besides English. I get a chance to filter out finely :P

I think junior isn't engaging you enough :P

Again a set of movies that I have had a chance to watch. I am a huge of fan of Fahadh Fasil, right from the movie Chappa Kurisu, an old one where he plays a anti-hero kind of role. He has great potential.

From your review, what I feel is certain nuances of the language escapes in translation to English, and audience who know the native language get to feel more. Maybe.

Adding to Njaan Parakasan, you should also watch Trance, where both Fahadh and Nazriya appear together.
